To prove a prima facie case of employment discrimination under title seven, you’re going to need to show three elements. First, that you’re a member of a protected group. For example, that you’re a woman or you’re African-American, or a Muslim. They’re a number of different types of protected characteristics. Second, that you were subjected to an adverse employment action by your employer. That could be that you didn’t get a promotion, or you weren’t hired. Third, you’re going to need to show a causal connection between those two events. Showing that that decision was made because of your protected characteristic, as a woman, as an African-American, or as a Muslim.
